A 20-p experiment

That 20 p was the cost of the cork sanding block that I bought today. I was thinking about whether I could use that block to carve a stamp.

Trying to carve a Bon Bon stamp.

The experiment ended in failure. It was not the carving that was the most serious problem, it was the uneven surface of that block that made the printing with ink impossible. I couldn’t even print a clear outline of Bon Bon.

A rubber stamp that I carved for my childhood friend who loves corgis.

But at least I made a start. I picked up my carving knives again after having neglected them for months.

A fab friend suggested I might try lino blocks. Well, that’s the next thing I’m going to investigate.

  1. I’m not sure that was cork to be honest, it looks like some sort of polystyrene to me. Maybe you’d have a better result with proper cork.
