Who still play Scrabble? Not the online version, but the real, tangible tiles and a pen and a piece of paper to keep count of the scoring.

Yes, I was invited to play Scrabble. I was expecting to play it INDOORS, at someone’s home. I didn’t expect a picnic-like setting, with a picnic blanket, snacks (nuts, biscuits, and strawberries), and drinks (orange juice and water).
We chose a spot in a meadow that enjoyed both the sunlight and a tree for shade. Nearby were a few kids playing. From time to time I could spot a dog in our vicinity. And birds too.

This was the first time I ever played Scrabble. I think my best word was “deluxe”, which happened to fall into one of the squares that gave me doubling of point of the whole word.
A book club meeting in a pub followed by a game of Scrabble sitting on the grass, this is my new life in the UK.
