Eye test

Having my eyes tested

One of my greatest fears is I may go blind. My job involves much reading and the use of computer. I have worked in the publishing industry. I have worked as online editor. How many hours have I spent sitting in front of a computer, staring at a screen, in my whole working life? I don’t even want to think about how many hours I spend in front of a screen on average.
I booked my eye test and had it done at one of the Specsavers branches. I had walked past this “eyeglasses shop” numerous times And I was actually quite surprised when someone suggested to me going there for an eye test.

Given that we use computer, tablet, smartphone so much, I’d think opticians and optometrists should be the next hottest professions, if they are not already so.

To put a long story short, I left the shop reassured that there is nothing wrong with my eyes. But I do need eyeglasses. I will get them seven working days after my ordering them.
Before I left the shop, I asked one of the staff members there if I needed to bring back my receipt for the glasses when I came back for them. He said there would be no need, as they would recognise me.
Cool. I would never expect any shops to recognise me after only one visit. But of course things are different now. I am now in a nice market town where everybody seems to know everybody.

I’m looking forward to receiving that text message telling me to collect my glasses. I do think I look quite good wearing them.
